I loved this book, and I felt a deep pull to it, especially because of the premise. I was drawn to Jude and Romeo and the way they’d been together through thick and thin since childhood. I wouldn’t say codependent, but they are. They feel like fated mates in the sense of a deep friendship, and they’re ride or die.
When they start to explore things physically with each other, it works until it doesn’t, and the misunderstanding that follows creates a big breakup in their lives. I liked how the story shows relationships as grounded in experience, and how lives get intertwined in ways that can’t ever really be undone.
This book also beautifully handles some deep, dark topics, and it helped me understand how people question their identity and how sometimes it takes time to find our own identity. Even the people we love most and are closest to may not have the full story about who we are. That’s a very rich topic to explore, and I think it does it in an immaculate way.
