The recurring image of an open window captures the private refuge the boys once created and the possibility that their connection may not be closed forever.

The prose is lyrical without losing the friction between the characters. Miscommunication plays a large role, but the dual timeline gives each revelation context and keeps the emotional conflict from feeling arbitrary.

Romeo Falling is an intense standalone MM romance about childhood friendship, betrayal, obsessive longing, and second chances. Readers should expect high angst, an unreliable narrator, and a relationship that is often painful before it becomes hopeful.
